To dream (verb) and the dream (noun). From Old English “Swevener” = dreamer. Also swevening. In the OC a “sweven” stands for a vision or briefing received from the First Self or a Numen. It unfolds in the mind’s eye and involves lucid dreaming. It is also a form of daydreaming that can be a very powerful experience, capturing the mind’s eye and blocking out everything else. Similar to actual dreaming or daydreaming, the Self becomes decoupled from present time in the process, or even from the temporal continuum itself.

There is an unsettling type of sweven Kayin refers to as a “daymare,” which can “trigger” the re-experiencing of regrettable events or actions (see Palace of Regret Remedies), though it is very rare.
