THE oc universe

AI STATEMENT
OC Universe LLC — Effective 2026
Our Philosophy
At OC Universe, we believe creativity is sacred. The Ouranian Chronicles exists because of human imagination, human effort, and human vision — and we intend to keep it that way. We are not opposed to artificial intelligence; in fact, we're enthusiastic about what it can offer as a tool for brainstorming, technical problem-solving, and creative collaboration. But enthusiasm is not the same as surrender.
We use AI deliberately and selectively, never as a replacement for authorship, and never in a way that dilutes creative control or authorial intent. Every word of this story, and every decision behind it, belongs to a human being. This page exists so our readers, collaborators, and fellow artists know exactly where that line is drawn — and why we draw it.
AT A GLANCE

a note to artists
We welcome artists inspired by The Ouranian Chronicles to submit their own interpretations of this world — whether created through traditional media, digital illustration, AI-assisted tools, or any combination thereof. We care about the vision behind the work, not the medium used to realize it. If you'd like to contribute, please reach out through our Contact page.

AI chatbot services like ChatGPT first became available on November 30 2022.)

a note from the author
"According to Gemini "the smarter you write, the more likely it is to detect you as AI.” As a philosopher, I refuse to dumb down my work to appear “more human.” Having invested a lifetime in honing my English vocabulary, I will not abandon my style or my precious em-dashes just because AI is trying to sound like me. In fact, I take it as a compliment.
Dear prospective reader, if you can’t tell the difference between my (humble) musings and AI verbiage, please come back later when AIs have moved on to mimicking someone else. I will still be around to sound like little old (flawed) me! I promise.”
