A person’s visual memory or imagination, as well as recollection and contemplation. The concept of the Mind’s Eye takes on a special significance in the OC, as in Book One, Masks of God, it is the medium or stage where the images coming from the First Selves become visible to the Second Selves. The Ouranians can tap into the Mind’s Eye of their counterparts in this world and so “experience” a second hand impression of our world as seen, and imagined, by us. The Mind’s Eye allows the Ouranians to work as our muses, by conveying inspiring thoughts or concepts in us by means of our imagination and daydreams. An artist must have a well-developed Mind’s Eye in order to connect more thoroughly or comprehensively to the First World. The concept takes on an additional important meaning in Book Two, Soul Engineer, where the Mind’s Eye becomes a person’s interface to a fourth generation quantum computer.

An important clue as to the possibility of sharing the Mind’s Eye is found in Book One, when Kayin reveals a deeper truth to Aušrinė:

“Consider, Aušrinė, that our minds are both battlestead and theater. And it is upon such an inmost stage that all chronologizing unfolds. Together, I hope, we may yet turn that stage into a forum. Let us not forget that it is here among ourselves, and not in the outer world, that secrets become shared—since over there, ‘where the tangibles roam,’ even truth is made to wear the latest, most fashionable garments. Thus, preserve my true account of a life among the mortal and the broken-hearted just as you have heard it ..." (Masks of God, p. 143)
