Masks of God

An alternate name for the members of the Order of the Amarant. A religious association of warrior-nuns whose leader is Aušrinė the Red, a.k.a. the Red Abbess. The order’s prioress, or second in command, is Setenay Khatirame, a.k.a. Silver Mask, a.k.a. Teesheen Pshypu, meaning “Silver Princess” in Adyge. The Masks of God’s belief system, though essentially pagan, evolved into a syncretic creed that attempts to reflect the content of their Book of Amarant—an unorganized collection of teachings, revelations, and myths, covering a broad spectrum, some of which predating Christianity— including Nart lore and teachings, Adyghe Khabze (Circassian moral code and philosophy), Assianism, Empedoclean katharmoi (purifications), Neo-Pythagoreanian sayings [akousmata], healing and conjuring magic, Gnostic, Bogomil, Cathar, and Essene beliefs and practices.
