Epimenides of Crete (7th or 6th-century BC)

According to Kayin, the seer Epimenides was the most celebrated example of an extended incubation in a cave, lasting an unimaginable fifty-seven years. This strikes even Kayin as physically impossible even though he met the man. The cave in question was sacred to Zeus, and Epimenides was blessed upon his awakening with the ability to foretell the future. Epimenides is often linked to a version of the Liar’s Paradox, though whether he came up with it or is only associated with it by others is not known.
